本文旨在新马社会变迁的基础上，考察新马两地福建帮总机构的发展变化，并进一步探讨两地福建帮总机构的之间互动，从而窥探新马两地关系的轨迹。本文由五章组合而成：第一章主要是说明研究的意义及文献的回顾。第二章则论述新马建国前的较早阶段（1828—1915年），两地福建帮总机构的创立及彼此间的互动。此章的特点在于探讨马六甲福建人如何起着领导作用，创立两地福建帮总机构。第三章乃探讨新马建国前50年（1915-1965年）两地福建帮地缘性组织的发展背景，以及新加坡如何接棒成为新马福建帮的领导机构。第四章则是分析在新马建国后（1965—至今），马来西亚及新加坡的福建帮总机构各自的发展情形及其互动关系。最后，本文将结合新马两地福建帮总机构的发展过程及两地福建总机构的互动关系，作一个概括性的总结。 This thesis investigates the evolution of leading Hokkien organizations in Singapore and Malaysia against the backdrop of social transformation in the two societies. It examines the cross-straits interactions between these organizations in the context of Singapore-Malaysia relations throughout the years.
