Description
Summary:The measure of sibship size’s effect on academic opportunities has been vigorously studied but other elements of the sibling configuration has not been given enough attention. This constellation includes the gender composition of siblings and sibship density. Using data collected from 20-Parent and 20-Child participants, this article investigates the effects of these characteristics on the educational opportunities of children. Interaction between sibship size and the apportioning of resources, like finances and emotional care, by parents will be explored. Correlating to this, I will discuss the effect of sibship density or spacing on the amount of financial or emotional resources parents can provide. Gender configuration will also be examined to determine if it affects how parents distribute these resources and whether it has an effect on competition between siblings.
