Summary:This paper aims to draw a comprehensive picture of poverty and inequality in Da Nang city, Vietnam in 2002. It seeks to answer the question of to what extent (if any) economic growth has actually benefited the poor. The authors examined poverty and inequality at provincial level to find out the pattern and magnitude of these issues. Besides, the study also seeks to evaluate the disparity among specific social sub-groups and between urban and rural areas in key welfare opportunities.
