Face capturing and preprocessing techniques for access control

Summary: | In this thesis, two proposed semi-automatic face capturing methods, namely Eye-Masking Method and Head-Nodding Method, are discussed. In the Eye-Masking Method, users need to place their eyes in a pre-defined rectangular region on the capturing window for capturing the face image. A new Eye Location method has been developed to extract the eye features from the captured image. With the extracted eye locations, it is easy to detect other facial features. The second method is called Head-Nodding. It aims to solve the face pose problem by providing consistent face images for verification. |
