Summary: | Optical Fiber Sensor is one of the new emerging technology platforms which have generated a vast number of interest in research and industrial application in recent years. Nowadays, it is often reported that land sliding causes great loss of human life and fortune due to unexpected earth movement. Geotechnical Inclinometer is being used to measure and detect earth movement, but its in-born design could not avoid great inaccuracy and commercial application cost. Thus far, there has been no work on the use of optical Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) bending sensor. Hence, the creation of new brand FBG bending sensor to replace Geotechnical Inclinometer is crucial to the evolution in Civil Engineering. The theme of this thesis centers around the design, technique of fabrication, modelling, and calibration of FBG bending sensor. |
