Summary: | The primary objectives of this project are to conduct a systemic study of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for CNT field emission application. They include 1) the optimization of CNT preparation conditions (using microwave plasma enhanced CVD); 2) study of the nanotube growth mechanism and fundamental function of Fe, and Ni as catalyst for nucleation; 3) characterization of CNTs; 4) investigation of the electron field emission properties from CNTs; 5) patterning and alignment of CNTs and 6) development of the relevant processes for the fabrication of nanotube-based electron field emission devices. |
