It replaces many proprietary cables that connect one device to another with one universal short-range radio link. For instance, Bluetooth radio technology built into both the cellular telephone and the laptop would replace the cable used today to connect a laptop to a cellular telephone, printers, desktops, fax machines, keyboards, joysticks and virtually any other digital device can be part of the Bluetooth system. With increasing usage of different types of gadgets there is always a need to interconnect them particularly without cable. And the number of devices to be interconnected is also increasing day-by-day. Scatternet is a solution to connect all of these devices. This report investigates mainly on the Bluetooth Technology, reviews different Research literature related to the Bluetooth Scatternet formations algorithms with particular emphasis on developing new algorithms for building Scatternets (and piconets) and also investigates a practical application of ad-hoc Scatternet formation with Industrial application. As well we review different network simulators available in the market. Their characteristics and comparison based on their ease of availability and their usage. Reviews on some of the simulators, which have modules to support simulation of Scatternet formation are also presented Master of Science (Communications Engineering) 2008-09-17T09:24:42Z 2008-09-17T09:24:42Z 2004 2004 Thesis http://hdl.handle.net/10356/3213 Nanyang Technological University application/pdf
