Description
Summary:Two wavelet-based applications in power quality analysis have been introduced in this thesis. One is a wavelet-based energy content method for classifying short duration voltage variations. The accurate time and magnitude information of the disturbances can be obtained using this method. Even the short duration voltage interruptions, which are difficult to be identified using the conventional RMS method, can be readily identified by this method. The other is a wavelet-based fuzzy method for identifying capacitor switching transients. This method can discriminate capacitor switching transients from other transients while tolerating some uncertainties with the system parameters.
