Objectives of this paper entail exploring the level of public perception and awareness of Social Entrepreneurship in Singapore, and understanding the local social welfare through various stakeholders. Other objectives also involves proposing a SE business model as a preliminary guide for fledging or new SEs based on the insights gathered, as well as identifying the challenges and success factors of local SEs. Ultimately, this paper aims to act as a preliminary guide for local Social Entrepreneurs when deciding to set up an SE. From the findings of this paper, the level of awareness on SEs among the Singapore public appears to be relatively low. The public also indicated that the attainment of social objectives takes precedence over that of financial objectives. Social Entrepreneurship in Singapore is still at an infancy stage, and there are differing views amongst various stakeholders regarding the concept of Social Entrepreneurship. Other key areas in this paper include implications directly affecting a SE’s marketing, finance, operations and human resource functions. These are the areas SEs should take particular note of as they have great impact on a SE’s operating strategy and subsequent competitive advantage.
