Summary: | Singapore is an excellent example of a proper cosmopolitan city-country in South-East Asia and is
a one that is well-studied and reputed around the globe. One of the key drivers of her economy
would be sustained tourism; from leisure tourists to business travellers, Singapore attracts a fair
share of visitors each year. Strategies and long-term planning are in place to ensure her continued
growth and success as an ideal tourist destination, and also a destination hub for the region.
Though the bulk of Singapore‟s arriva ls come from her neighbours, vis itors from other regions are
steadily increasing.
This paper focuses on Europe, and specifically the three top arrival grossing countries – The
United Kingdom, Germany and France. Key variables that affect arrivals were analysed using an
econometric model formulated and results showed the significance of the variables to each market.
Factors such as personal disposable income and lagged variables affected arrivals the greatest;
these findings led us to make tailored recommendations for each country. |
