This paper probes with the question of why the Indo-US partnership on the promotion of democracy and 'missile defense system' is essential for enhancing India's role in the world, especially south Asia and south East Asia The study of India's strategies it was revealed that India had in fact undertaken similar strategy to promote its power. The promotion of democracy and Missile Defense System are the two big commitments that the present Bush administration has taken and India has also shown its interest in both. If the both project come into existence, it would be a catalyst for India ascendance in international politics or even its fail the political message it gives to the existing super power would benefit also.
