No doubt taking a leaf from Compaq's acquisition experience of Digital Equipment in 1998, speed of execution in the integration of the companies was of paramount importance in the minds of the HP management. As part of the integration effort to integrate the supply chains of the two pre-merger companies, a project team was tasked to re-design the supply chain for the Industrial Standard Server (ISS), a Standard Intel Architecture (SIA) server product range, in China.
