DFQ means 'Design For Quality' and is a methodology/approach for building quality into a design rather than inspecting quality out of the manufactured product. Design quality is evaluated throughout the design process and each design phase has different requirements, hence there are a variety of DFQ approaches. Errors in the design, if addressed very late in the design process, can consume considerable rework time, effort and money because major decisions have already been taken. Thus DFQ evaluation at early design stages is extremely important.
