Stents are used in palliative treatment to relieve the blocked intestinal passage and allow normal functioning of the bowel. This research focuses on the design and development of a low-cost colonic stent for the purpose of temporary placement in the colon. We propose a novel interlockable stent design after a thorough review of the relevant research publications and patents on colonic stenting and stent designs.
