Description
Summary:This dissertation describes the analysis, design and implementation of a digital Class D amplifier for low-distortion low-voltage micropower applications including hearing instruments. A digital Class D amplifier comprises a digital pulse width modulator, an output stage and a low-pass filter. In a digital hearing instrument, a digital Class D amplifier embodying a digital pulse width modulator has an advantage over analog Class D amplifier of directly interfacing to the digital processor, thereby eliminating the need for a digital-to-analog converter.
