Description
Summary:Mobile agent systems have been increasingly deployed in e-commerce in the high-end desktop client PC environment. Now we are witnessing a new growth in the use of mobile devices that promise to enable new and exciting mobile commerce (m-commerce) applications. We believe that agent technology can greatly assist in the development of these new m-commerce applications, as mobile devices still suffer from limited network bandwidth and processing power. In this thesis, we propose a model of secure agent-based system for supporting personalized m-commerce services. The services are automated by deploying mobile agents in collecting multiple information sources from different suppliers. The collection is based on user preferences and via the collaboration of various agents from different parties. The system supports both J2ME-enabled and WAP-enabled mobile devices using the XML technology. The proposed system model is tried out in the design of a mobile travel service. The experimental implementation of the model shows that large ensembles of autonomous agents working together is a promising dynamic model for building the next generation of wireless applications.
