Description
Summary:Interest and research activities in automatic face recognition have been developed significantly in last few years. The growth largely is driven by growing application demands, such as identification and authentication in security industry. Among the number of techniques proposed, deformable models, such as active contours (snakes), G-Snakes, deformable templates, Active Shape Models (ASM), Al-Snake, etc has aroused much research interest because of their powerful ability in objects matching. Deformable models show great advantages compared with other approaches. It is robust to shape variation and occlusion of the interested objects because of their capability to adapt themselves according to the object shapes. The large demand in identification and authentication has motivated us to investigate the deformable model application in facial feature extraction.
