Summary: | Communication is one of the most important aspects in maintaining human beings’ lives. However, there are a lot of people on the world who are paralyzed and strictly restricted to the movements of the eyes. Many applications have been developed using signals generated by the eye movements to assist these people in daily communication thanks to the fact that distinct eye movements generate different signals taken from vertical and horizontal channels of the eyes with the help of two electro-oculogram (EOG) sensors per channel. A communication support interface has been developed with signal conditioning circuit, virtual keyboard and EOG signals for disabled people. The purpose of this project is to improve the typing efficiency of the virtual keyboard using Huffman Coding scheme and to redesign the signal conditioning circuit to replace the need of using the current expensive gUSB amplifier. This hardware is integrated with signal detection algorithm with the help of a MicroController. |
