Summary: | Stroke is the third leading cause of death in Singapore, stroke patients are usually reported to
have some degree of disability after recovering from stroke.
Rehabilitation techniques has been devised and implemented over the years for stroke patients to
help them get back their motor functions. This is usually in the form of physical therapy which
involves exercising and manipulating the body, helping the patients improving their quality of
life.
Augmented Reality (AR) has the ability to create any environments and conditions within the
comfort of the user’s home and many situations can be easily recreated. This project looks into
the feasibility of using AR technology in physical therapies for stroke patients’ recovery stage.
This is to provide another avenue of rehabilitation for them which will free up more man hours
for the medical professionals to tend to other more serious cases.
In this project, a game system using Augmented Reality is developed with the aim to provide
rehabilitation exercises for stroke patient to perform in their comfort of their own home. |
