Summary: | Most of us have a desk at home that we use for doing work on. We call it our personal workspace. More often than not, this personal workspace is often a disorganized mess of gadgets and documents jumbled together with your personal and work artifacts.
The physical design of your typical desk has not changed significantly since the writing desk of the 18th century. But two centuries ago, the writing desk was just used for what it was named for - writing.
Today however, our personal workspace often double as work studios, personal entertainment spaces, gadget charging stations, eating spaces and personal accessories holding areas...... all in one small table area. We are multitasking in every aspect of our lives, and trying to do more in less. We are increasingly taking on more work and not knowing how to handle it with the same amount of time and space. We are asking more of our desks today, yet the desk design has not evolved to suit our needs.
Does the personal workspace need to be redesigned?
This project aim to physically design a personal workspace that helps us to deal with the multiplicity of roles it has to play in today’s times. |
