Description
Summary:For providing energy security, state can no longer play a dominant role. In the case of electricity supply in Indonesia, private sector also becomes a major player. Electricity plays an important part in development of Indonesia. The economic and industrial development depends on electricity as their source of power. Without, adequate supply of electricity, Indonesia cannot be able to develop its economic and industrial sector. For many years, electricity in Indonesia was supplied by a single supplier, State electricity Company (SEC). Besides that, Indonesia has abundant conventional fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas that can be used as source of energy for power plant. With the two factor, monopoly electricity system and abundant fossil fuels, Indonesia can supply adequate electricity for the public interest. However, Indonesia still experienced electricity shortage and could not be able to supply adequate electricity for 234 million populations.
