Description
Summary:Time Delay Estimation (TDE)is a fundamental passive sonar signal processing problem. It is important in many areas such as sonar, biomedicine, radar and geophysics. Generalized Cross Correlation (GCC)method has been the conventional method of estimating time delays, but it has certain limitations on the nature of the signal and noise sources. When the noises are correlated or the signals are non-Gaussian, the performance of GCC approaches degrade. Recently there is a surge of interest in studying Higher-Order Statistics (HOS)of the signals and their application to many signal processing problems. HOS-based TDE approaches have been proposed which show better performance than GCC methods.
