In any wireless communication system, the chief concern of achieving the best possible data-rate has a potent impediment in the form of the wireless channel. The use of various technologies like MIMO, OFDM, Soft modulation are all directed to this common goal of attaining the best possible data rate and intelligibility. The use of MIMO or Multiple Input Multiple Output technology along with the host of other technologies provides the backbone to the success of the physical layer on the whole. The wireless channel is an intangible medium, the knowledge of which is of up-most importance as it can be exploited in ways to aid the achievement of maximum data rate possible. In this report, I try to understand soft constellation de-mapping and simulated the same as a part of the OFDM modulation scheme in accordance to the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard requirements.
