Description
Summary:This paper will show the threat of self-radicalisation to Singapore is low. However there are also factors that can complicate this assessment. The first section of the paper will define self-radicalisation and show that it is part of the process of radicalisation, which could lead to terrorism. Section II will explore why assessing radicalisation and terrorism is complicated, mainly as a result of limited and rigorous research defining what a terrorist personality is. Other reasons are existing stereotypes which can skew research such as linking Islam to terrorism, anti-Americanism as the path to radicalisation, weak links in terrorism research methods and also the prevailing unverifiability of sources.
