The lack of natural resources in Singapore has also driven the need to recycle materials for alternative uses. This project focuses on one such way of recycling waste materials; that is to use sand and plastic to make bricks for construction. Bricks samples were produced with varying amounts of polypropylene content and laboratory testing was done on these samples to determine its mechanical and engineering properties. Some of the testing include compression test, density test and moisture content test. The results obtained were compared against the properties of other block specimens that were formed with cement and soil using a different method. Comparisons were also made in terms of cost-effectiveness of forming bricks using the geo-plastic method against the conventional method.
