Summary: | In this project, a high speed camera is used to capture high speed video of specimen deformation during Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar Testing. The high speed camera parameter selection is outlined. Video analysis was conducted to determine the possibility of measuring the deformation uniformity of the specimen as well as the change in length. The change in length was used to compute the strain, which was plot against the strain gauge readings from the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar test results. It was found that it was indeed possible to use video measurement to measure the specimen deformation. The videoed specimen was found to have deformed fairly uniformly. Although calculation of the strain from the measurements was possible, the results were not accurate but a curve of good fit to the strain gauge results was obtained in some instances. With a better camera, more accurate results can be obtained. |
