Description
Summary:This project aims to research, design and develop a proximity detection system that is intended to be integrated into an educational toy known as the i-Cube. It will enable the i-Cube to detect not only the presence but also the orientation of other i-Cubes around it. This added source of sensor data will give the designers of the i-Cube more creative room to integrate new modes of interaction into the final product. This is contrasted with other systems which relies on accelerometers, which are only able to detect orientation within the vertical but not the horizontal plane. Their limited sensor data does not allow them to sense proximity with each other. The deliverables of this project include a prototype system that can be integrated into the i-Cube, as well as an FYP report, containing the process of developing the system, and experimental findings on the performance of the system.
