Description
Summary:Automated fingerprint recognition is now widely used in many user authentication applications because they offer higher security and more convenience when compared to password or token based authentication systems. Fingerprint cryptosystems have proven to be one of the most secure and efficient IT security solutions in the world. However, issues like key management and loopholes in data transmission are still a problem. The specific goal of this project is to develop a prototype of a fully functional and secure fingerprint cryptosystem to address these issues. In this project, we will analyze different fingerprint representation schemes and cryptographic primitives to design an accurate and secure fingerprint cryptosystem. The proposed fingerprint cryptosystem incorporates spectral minutiae representation and the strengths of cryptographic algorithms in the data transmission process to improve the security (confidentiality and integrity) of the fingerprint matching process. Finally, a prototype of the cryptosystem was implemented on a netbook and its performance has been evaluated.
