Handed down from generation to generation, the purpose of a fable is to teach a particular lesson, value or to give advice. The objective of my project is to promote fables as an effective channel to educate the young morally, particularly children of ages seven to nine years old. As a designer, I am looking into innovative and new ways of presenting fables, with the ultimate goal to arouse a greater interest in fables in young children today. In reaching my objective, I have utilized a few methods. One of them is to bring each fable character alive as though he/she is a new friend to the children. Each character is given a name, a unique personality, and specific physical attributes so that they are as diverse as real people. Another method is to add interactive elements in the main deliverable – fable books as an element of fun and surprise for the children. By being able to move and having the children interact with the book using both senses of touch and sight, the characters, as well as the fables, come to life in the vast imagination of the children. Further deliverables which serve to support and promote the main deliverable will be discussed in the paper. In conclusion, I hope that children will be able to enjoy value-added fun and enjoyment in reading fables, as well as to keep the morals behind each fable close to heart.
