Description
Summary:Social Documentary on young people in Contemporary Singapore's society. Living here in Singapore for my entire 24 years of life, I have discovered personal expressions and interpretations of this culture and society that I grew up in and constantly come in contact with. This familiarity has allowed me to gain more confidence in integrating and interacting with different generations and groups of society. Hence, a majority of my past works has explored the various social rituals of these people that live within Singapore, uncovering human emotions, environmental relationships, or even hierarchical structures within groups. As I develop my understanding of social structures, I began to take on a more active and directorial approach by involving myself into the scene, allowing opportunities or occurrences to dictate certain aspects of my photographic works, such as my project, ‘The Scene’- which is a series of photographs that documents young people within contemporary Singapore’s leisure nightspots.
