Artistic rendering of image is a novel interdisciplinary topic. Aimed to develop a simple yet
feature-rich prototype interface in this project, various linear and non-linear image processing
techniques are implemented in Matlab. The artistic principles of classic human portraits
provide guidance towards the image modification.
In order to enhance aesthetic appearance of the image, linear stretching, histogram
equalization, histogram matching techniques are implemented and experimented. The
modification can be applied to either the whole image or the manually selected foreground
region in the image. The users can apply the transformations in a convenient manner which
invokes the techniques depending on their own needs.
The produced results of image modification are satisfactory in terms of functionality realized.
The selected examples of the processed images are shown and discussed in the report.
Theoretical and experimental issues are followed by the analysis of results. |
