Summary: | This report is a documentation of the modifications made to reduce the Common mode current generated from power line network. A test bed is developed to measure the Common mode current and electric field of the network during various loading environment. The existence of parasitic capacitance between the power transformer and the power line modem creates a CM current path; hence one of the feasible solutions is the use of a CM choke in series to the power transformer. An in-depth study of the power line modem was also performed as part of the experiments in this report. |
