Summary: | This report presents an experimental model especially designed for two-dimensional valveless impedance pump. This model is tested for different previously reported valveless pumps and shows good agreement with the experiment results.
This valveless pump consists two sections of rigid tube which are connected by one elastic tube. It formed a “U” shape and filled with water, while the rigid tubes are vertical and elastic tube is horizontal. By periodically squeezing the elastic section with certain frequency and amplitude, different pressure head can be observed. After studying the effects of squeezing location, frequency, and amplitude on pressure head, we can have a better understanding of Liebau phenomena. When squeezing location is near rigid tube A, the water head will be positive in rigid tube B; at certain frequency, the pressure head is highest; with higher amplitude, the pressure head is higher. |
