One of the major factors is to provide precise liquid fertilizer dosage for the plants and therefore, an automatic liquid fertilizer dosing mechanism is required. However, currently in the market, there is no mechanism that can carry out this task appropriately. In this report, an automatic liquid fertilizer dosing device will be designed and fabricated. To achieve this, extensive research was carried out on the requirements of aquatic plants and the need for precise fertilizer dosing mechanism in an aquarium was identified. A study on current dosing mechanisms in the market will also be carried out to understand the pros and cons of each design. Experiments were carried out to test the functionality of the prototype and to fine tune the precision of the dosing device. Eventually, an automatic fertilizer dosing device with an accuracy of 0.25ml is achieved.
