Description
Summary:In this project, a Cheetah Entreprise 3.5’’ Hark Disk Drive(HDD) is tested in the Anechoic Chamber to find out the noises generated by the spindle motor at different speed. The sound power level and sound pressure level are measured and calculated by using the software Bruel & Kjaer – PULSE Labshop Version 14.0.0. The sound pressure FFT results are obtained and a computer simulation is done by using ANSYS and SYSNOISE. The HDD is also tested in different conditions such as by removing the cover and right after the power supply is disconnected. This is to study how the cover affects the noise level and also the electromagnetic noise generated by the motor. Throughout the project, we are able to identify the main contributor of the noise in the HDD motor and this will help a lot in the improvement of the HDD motor to achieve better acoustical performance.
