Summary: | In this report, I will document the processes and results of the Final Year Project (FYP) A3048-091: Computer Animation Application for the Hearing Impaired Children in the academic year 2009/2010.
The purpose of this project is to help the hearing impaired children to learn SEE sign language more easily and in a fun and interactive way. This application also serves as a learning tool and acts as a communication link between the normal and hearing impaired.
This application was successfully developed using mainly Open Graphic Library (OpenGL), Poser, 3D Studio Max and Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) Dialog based Application.
This project is a continuation of the previous Benny, which combines the capabilities of speech recognition, text-to-speech and 3D animations into an interactive platform for
hearing-impaired children. Improvements are made regarding the slow loading time and
limited vocabulary. New functions such as finger(sign) spelling is also implemented to make the product more complete.
This report will cover mainly the methods used in reducing the loading time of the model and the results shown. The process of developing new features such as finger spelling and solving the problem of missing unknown vocabulary words are also documented. |
