Low earth orbit design using genetic algorithms

The microsatellite usually operates in the Low Earth Orbit with the mission of taking ground image. Due to the energy and observing duration restraint, the selection of the fittest orbits has become important to obtain the optimal result. Due to the energy and observing duration restraint, the selection of the fittest orbits has become important to obtain the optimal result. However, there are a lot of variables which can affect the orbit of the satellite. Therefore, a program which allows generating and testing the orbit selection is needed. This project is to apply the Genetic Algorithms (GA) with intention to create the artificial software which is able not only to generate the orbit for the microsatellite with given technical information and requirements but also to perform the simulation of the orbit. Although the result may not be the best all the time, GA provides a new approach to the satellite orbit design. We can also apply GA in solving difficult satellite module designs, for example communication link, within time and energy constraint.
