Summary: | Utilities are making great efforts to enhance their State Estimation capability so as to improve their Energy Management System (EMS). A literature review is done to investigate the functionality of State Estimation and studies the impact on the use of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) on the State Estimation problem. The way of integrating PMU measurements in a conventional algorithm will be examined and the Weighted Least Square (WLS) approach will be used. The effect of adding PMU measurements on the State Estimation’s solution accuracy will be analyzed and evaluated. Bad data detection and identification in the presence of PMU measurements will be discussed. Finally, the problem of optimal PMU placement is addressed due to the budget constraint of system operators.
The main objective of this project is to incorporate the phase angles supplied by the PMUs into the conventional measurements so as to solve the entire voltage values of the micro-grid network. In order to achieve the aim of this project, the fast decoupled WLS algorithm must first be formulated. Then, this fast decoupled WLS algorithm will be upgraded to deal with erroneous data. The simulation results for the entire project are illustrated in this report. The objectives of this project have been met. |
