Description
Summary:Due to rapid increase of high bandwidth real-time traffic, and the scalability problem and coarse quality of service (QoS) problem of current QoS architectures such as Integrated Service and Differentiated Service, a scalable Multiervice mechanism is proposed to provide QoS guarantees to individual traffic streams in this report. A detailed structure of our proposed Scalable Multiservice mechanism including flow classification, link capacity allocation and admission control with Bandwidth Broker will be presented. For charging in this proposed mechanism, we propose a scalable Multiservice pricing scheme. Our pricing scheme addresses the disadvantage of several current Internet pricing schemes such as flat-rate pricing, Pairs Metro pricing, usage-based pricing and Time of Day pricing. Our scheme charges traffic on a per-flow basis using time-of-day dependent pricing. This pricing scheme aims to maximize the revenue of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) by computing the optimal allocation vector for a link that support different QoS classes. In this report, the pricing formulas and procedure of maximizing the revenue will be presented and discussed
