Summary: | Aerospace MRO is a key industry in Singapore as there are more than 50 global companies such as Boeing and EADS providing MRO services. In this MRO supply chain, tracking and tracing play an important role so that the operational efficiency, safety, security, customer satisfaction, lower cost are met to the expectation. In addition to the emerging RFID technology, many commercial applications have successfully adopted and integrated this technology. With these impetuses, it is beneficial to develop a real-time secure RFID-based track and trace solution for aerospace MRO.
This final year project covered a partial of the aspects for this solution which is proposed by SIMTech. The objective is to design and develop the client system of a mobile device that can act multiple functions in track and trace system in supply chain based on RFID technology. In order to fulfill the objective, Multi-functional Handheld Device (MHD) and Integrated Rfid Information Management and Synchronization (IRIMS) are design and develop during the course of project.
The main purpose of the MHD is to interact with the user, assist them in term of providing information and updating of current information, and hence providing a fast and convenient way for the user. Where else, the IRIMS is to manage and synchronize information between front-end and back-end system. It also provides supports for the functionalities that are being implemented in the MHD. The highlight for the IRIMS is the integration of a rule engine where this concept is being adopted from the research papers on RFID data management. |
