ICS-564 is a software defined radio module which is ideal for arbitrary waveform generation. In this project, it is operated with a personal computer and can be programmed and controlled by Matlab. Some of the signal parameters (like bandwidth, center frequency and pulse width) and a number of the ICS-564’s parameters (like DAC conversion mode, operating mode and clock source) can be programmed via Matlab. This project is to do the programming on computation of complex baseband waveform data, loading the data to ICS-564 and controlling the ICS-564 to convert it into an programmed intermediate frequency (IF) analog signal. This report is to document the basic waveform generation theories, detail description of the operation of ICS-564 and the algorithm of the author’s program design.
