Magnetofluidics chip has emerged as a promising tool for magnetic particles manipulations and separations. This report first presents the designs and fabrication techniques for the two components of a magnetofluidics chip – a PDMS microchannels and a microstriplines. The recipe for integration of the two components was investigated. The magnetofluidics chip was then used to practice the sorting and trapping mechanisms of magnetic particles. Technique of beads counting by using MATLAB had been developed and the efficiency of beads sorting over various current switching periods had been investigated. The experimental observations, as well as the chip design and capability, were explained and supported by simulation results. Electromagnetic components are now being combined with microfluidics in an amazing variety
of applications. Magnetofluidics chip has emerged as a promising tool for magnetic particles
manipulations and separations. This report first presents the designs and fabrication techniques
for the two components of a magnetofluidics chip – a PDMS microchannels and a
microstriplines. The recipe for integration of the two components was investigated. The
magnetofluidics chip was then used to practice the sorting and trapping mechanisms of magnetic
particles. Technique of beads counting by using MATLAB had been developed and the
efficiency of beads sorting over various current switching periods had been investigated. The
experimental observations, as well as the chip design and capability, were explained and
