Its properties of being able to precisely determine the user location on any part of the Earth surface has made it the most important tool in navigation be in land or air. No matter how essential the Global Positioning System has become, it still however suffer a major drawback which is currently unavoidable which is this system is unable to be utilized in an indoor environment. Due to its weak signal transmission, Global Positioning System will most of the time require a line-of-sight transmission between the transmitter and the receiver. In this project, building a system similar of that to Global Positioning System will be required so as to enable tracking of any item in an indoor environment. This system can be replicated by using the Radio Frequency Identification technology. Also, in this project, it is necessary to design an application to suit the indoor tracking system so it is of importance to design a navigation graphical user interface that enable to track a particular item in three-dimensional space. With the combination of the hardware system and the graphical user interface, this system be found in places like hospital or manufacturing plant where monitoring of the work flow can be possible.
