Summary:The inconvenient truth about climate change has begun to set in, those with this foresight has been driver for the development of clean and renewable energy technologies. With the growth in international outcry on the adverse impact of global warming and the demand of modern societies for electrical energy continues to grow, clean and renewable energy based distributed generators (DGs) will be a major consideration in the energy landscape production of the future. Every country has the responsibility to environmental sustainability, furthermore clean and sustainable energy solutions also enhance energy security, i.e., less dependence on traditional fossil fuel sources. Several new technologies are being developed and marketed for distributed generation, with capacity ranges from a few kW to 100 MW. The DG includes microturbines, fuel cells, photovoltaic systems, wind power systems, diesel engines, and gas turbines.
