Most of the board games and card games have been converted to online games for players around the world to spar online. One such common, well-known classic game is Chinese Chess. It has become a popular game for people of all ages and genders. Furthermore, with the advancement of technology, online chess games have become a norm for chess players. The objective of this project is to study the workings logic of an online Chinese Chess game and attempt to model it using as an ActiveX Control starting from scratch. Intensive research was done to equip the author with the fundamental game knowledge of Chinese Chess. It was also crucial in finding appropriate software to implement an online Chinese Chess game. Research from various sources such as internet, books and journals was done to enhance in understanding of the development of an online Chinese Chess game.The results had indicated that a simple move of a chess piece involves a lot of checking and consideration on the types of moves possible. All these were taken into consideration during the development of the Chinese Chess game using the Visual Studio VB.net language. In conclusion, a normal Chinese Chess game may seems simple to develop. But underneath the Chinese Chess game lays an intricate complex coding of the game. In order to create the online Chinese Chess game, the author has created many state diagrams to aid her in the coding of the Chinese Chess game. With the intensive research on Chinese Chess, detailed understanding of the Chinese Chess game and the meticulous design of the Chinese Chess game, the game was successfully deployed and tried by many users. Conclusively, this project serves as the first version of an online Chinese Chess game, which will ease any further development in the future.
