總結:Intensive research and development of on-chip antennas have been widely pursued over the years. Small-sized chip antennas with high performance yet low costs are favored due to the demand of lightweight mobile devices. Despite the demand of small lightweight antennas, the designing of a chip antenna requires tradeoffs between performance and cost. The objective of this final year project is to design an on-chip antenna with an operating frequency of 135 GHz using HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) program. The idea is to have a smaller antenna with an acceptable gain and a larger bandwidth. Designing factors such as substrate material, type of feed, patch size and point of feed are considered to maximize the gain, directivity and bandwidth of the antenna. The antennas are then used to form a two-element antenna array to further increase its performance. In the process, valuable knowledge regarding antenna design is acquired.
