Description
Summary:Socializing outside the workplace, also known as yingchou, is one method of establishing and maintaining guanxi between Chinese firms and organizations. As yingchou is similar to networking in some aspects, some of the difficulties encountered by females in the West, which led to them having fewer networking opportunities, were adopted to examine the possibility of females engaging in less yingchou activities. In this study, domain analysis was used to identify the characteristics of yingchou for females and the attitudes of these females towards yingchou. It was found that females do engage in less yingchou activities although the reasons for it was not entirely the same as the problems encountered by females in the West for networking.
