Description
Summary:This dissertation focused on sustainability of biological system and membrane filtration behavior in long SRT (300 days) condition. A lab-scale MBR with SRT of 300 days was set up and operated fo 880 days. The result indicated that 300-day SRT MBR provided stable and sustainable treatment efficiency. The organic removal efficiency in terms of COD and TOC were more than 90%. The resulting MLVSS/MLSS ratio indicated that no accumulation of inorganic compounds took place in the long SRT MBR system. Permeate water quality was higher than expected microfiltration membrane. The observed sludge yield for 300-day SRT MBR was 0.02277 gVSS.gCOD^-1 which was 20 to 40 times less than the values reported in the case of conventional activated sludge.
