Stabilization and adsorption of polyelectrolyte : poly (allylamine-hydrochloride) (PAH)
We study the crosslinking of the polyelectrolyte poly (allylamine-hydrocloride) (PAH) using glutaraldehyde (GA), and use it to create stable oil-in-water emulsions. We show that, in addition to stabilizing the emulsion, the crosslinking leads to coalescence and formation of non-spherical droplet sha...

Summary: | We study the crosslinking of the polyelectrolyte poly (allylamine-hydrocloride) (PAH) using glutaraldehyde (GA), and use it to create stable oil-in-water emulsions. We show that, in addition to stabilizing the emulsion, the crosslinking leads to coalescence and formation of non-spherical droplet shapes. Our results may help us understand how polymers can help stabilizing emulsions and how oil droplets influence gel formation. |
