Description
Summary:Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, or MANETs, have recently gained much attention in the research community in anticipation of pertinent applications in converging communications services. The proliferation of peer-to-peer products has rendered MANET security an imminent issue. Regrettably, research interest centres primarily on routing issues, and security in MANETs has remained relatively novel to-date. This work provides a review of many security techniques which are employed in current mobile wireless networks and are relevant to the MANET. Their applicability to the MANET is assessed and further design considerations are offered from a protocol perspective to enhance security in the mobile multihop wireless environment.
